About Savor the Coast

Hi, we’re Clay and Aimie Barton—founders of Savor the Coast. Clay is a proud Gulf Coast native, and Aimie grew up in Chattanooga, TN. Together, we share a love for exploring new cities, tasting local flavors, and uncovering the stories that make each place unique.

When traveling to a new city, we try to avoid chain restaurants. We don’t want something we can find at home—we want a true taste of that city. The challenge? There are always so many amazing local restaurants to choose from, but never enough time (or budget) to try them all.

That’s why we fell in love with food tours. They offer a perfect way to sample multiple local eateries in one afternoon, while also learning about the history and culture that shaped their surroundings. Every food tour we took left us with a deeper appreciation for that place—and a full, happy belly.

Then we asked ourselves: why can’t we do something like this for the Gulf Coast?

And so, Savor the Coast was born. Our tours are designed to showcase the very best of Coastal Mississippi: the hidden gems, the beloved classics, and the stories that tie them all together. We want visitors and locals alike to experience our coastal community the way we see it—rich with flavor, history, and hospitality.

For us, it’s not just about the food (though it is delicious). It’s about creating a fun, social experience where strangers become friends, and where everyone walks away with a deeper connection to this special stretch of the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
