Ship Island is one of the most memorable day trips on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Part of Gulf Islands National Seashore, the barrier island sits about 12 miles offshore and is accessible only by boat.
Seasonal passenger ferry service typically operates from spring through fall. Depending on the date and schedule, departures may be available from Gulfport or Biloxi, so confirm the current departure point when booking.

If the ferry is not operating, the weather refuses to cooperate or you simply prefer staying on land, drive west to Mississippi Aquarium in downtown Gulfport.
