Where to Stay in Biloxi: 8 Unforgettable Hotels & Unique Stays

Deciding where to stay in Biloxi does not automatically mean choosing a casino resort. Biloxi has historic vacation rentals, intimate boutique hotels, downtown lofts, beachfront suites and locally distinctive properties alongside its well-known resorts. The best choice depends on whether you want to walk downtown, wake up near the beach, spread out with family or make the hotel itself part of the vacation.

Where you stay can noticeably change the feel of a Biloxi trip. A historic home on Water Street puts you among some of the city’s oldest architecture. A downtown hotel makes restaurants, baseball and entertainment easier to reach on foot. A Beach Boulevard property puts the Mississippi Sound outside your window, while a full-service resort can give you restaurants, pools and entertainment without leaving the property.

This guide focuses on some of the most interesting choices across those categories rather than simply listing every hotel in Biloxi.

1. Old Spanish House: Best Historic Stay

Old Spanish House - where to stay in Biloxi

If you want to stay somewhere that actually belongs to Biloxi’s story, the Old Spanish House is difficult to duplicate.

The property is also known historically as the Scherer House and dates to around 1840, making it one of Biloxi’s surviving historic landmarks. Today, Louis Montague Properties has renovated it into vacation accommodations while preserving the character that makes the building distinctive.

Guests can choose between two downstairs two-bedroom, two-bath suites or a larger four-bedroom suite upstairs. That makes it particularly appealing for couples traveling together, families or small groups who want more space than a traditional hotel room.

The location is another major advantage. The house sits on Water Street in historic downtown Biloxi, close to restaurants, the waterfront, downtown attractions and entertainment.

This property is also featured on the Historic Downtown Biloxi Food Tour. Guests encounter the Old Spanish House as part of the neighborhood’s historic story. Staying here gives you the unusual opportunity to spend the night inside one of the places you learn about while exploring Biloxi.

2. White House Hotel: Best Historic Boutique Hotel

White House Hotel Biloxi - where to stay in Biloxi

The White House Hotel gives travelers another way to stay inside Biloxi history, but with the services and amenities of a traditional boutique hotel.

The property’s story began in the 1890s, when Cora White started accepting boarders into her family’s home overlooking the beach. The operation gradually expanded into a Gulf Coast hotel, eventually incorporating multiple buildings and later additions. After sitting vacant for decades, the property was restored and reopened as a 76-room boutique hotel.

Its Beach Boulevard setting gives guests views toward the Mississippi Sound and easy access to the shoreline, while Cora’s Restaurant & Bar gives you an on-site option for dinner or cocktails.

This would be one of our first choices for couples who want something more distinctive than a large resort but still want a front desk, restaurant, pool, and full hotel experience.

3. Hotel Biloxi: Best Small Downtown Hotel

Hotel Biloxi - where to stay in Biloxi

For travelers who prefer a smaller hotel in the middle of downtown, Hotel Biloxi offers a very different experience from Biloxi’s large casino resorts.

The boutique property has just 11 king rooms surrounding a private courtyard, giving it a much more intimate feel. Its Caillavet Street location puts guests steps from Keesler Federal Park, home of the Biloxi Shuckers, and directly across from Beau Rivage.

That combination is especially useful if you want nightlife and downtown activity nearby without staying inside a casino. The property also has an on-site speakeasy-style bar, The Meeting Room, and the courtyard provides a quieter place to retreat after exploring downtown.

Hotel Biloxi makes particular sense for couples, baseball weekends or travelers planning to spend more of their trip walking around downtown than relaxing at a resort.

4. 902 Howard Lofts: Best Downtown Loft Stay

902 Howard Lofts - where to stay in Biloxi

If you like the space and independence of a vacation rental but still want a professionally designed lodging property, 902 Howard Lofts fills an interesting middle ground.

The property occupies a restored 1932 building that once housed the Arcadian-Ness Creamery and later Josette’s, a longtime Gulf Coast fabric and costume shop. Today it contains seven individually styled loft suites with kitchens and flexible living spaces.

The downtown location is one of its biggest strengths. Keesler Federal Park sits directly across the street, making this an especially convenient choice during Biloxi Shuckers season, and restaurants and entertainment are within the surrounding downtown district.

Families and small groups may particularly appreciate having more living space and kitchen facilities than a conventional hotel room while still being positioned in the middle of Biloxi.

5. Water Street Retreat: Best Downtown Vacation Rental for Two

Water Street Retreat - where to stay in Biloxi

Travelers who like the Louis Montague style but do not need a multi-bedroom historic house should look at Water Street Retreat.

This compact downtown studio combines a king bed and sleeper sofa with local artwork, industrial details and a small kitchen area. It is designed more like an independent city getaway than a hotel room.

The real attraction is location. It sits in downtown Biloxi close to restaurants, coffee, the beach and entertainment, making it possible to experience much of the surrounding area without constantly getting back into the car.

For a couple taking a short Biloxi getaway and planning to spend most of the day exploring, eating and sightseeing, this kind of smaller vacation rental can make more sense than paying for resort amenities you may barely use.

6. South Beach Biloxi: Best for Beachfront Suites

South Beach Biloxi - where to stay in Biloxi

If the beach is more important to you than downtown, South Beach Biloxi Hotel & Suites offers a completely different setup.

The property sits directly along the sand and Biloxi Boardwalk. Its one- and two-bedroom suites include full kitchens, separate living areas and private balconies, giving families and longer-stay travelers more room than a standard hotel room.

This is the kind of property where the accommodation itself can become part of the vacation. You can start the morning along the water, return to the suite during the hottest part of the afternoon and head back outside without driving anywhere.

It is particularly appealing for families, multi-night stays or travelers who want a slower beach-centered trip rather than a downtown-focused itinerary.

7. Hotel Legends: Best All-Suite Downtown Hotel

Hotel Legends - where to stay in Biloxi

Hotel Legends offers something larger and more full-service without putting the casino floor at the center of the experience.

The downtown property has 132 suites overlooking the Mississippi Sound and Biloxi, along with a pool, restaurant and nightlife. The design leans into old Hollywood glamour, giving it a personality that feels different from both a conventional chain hotel and a beach condo.

Its location on Beach Boulevard puts downtown attractions, historic sites, restaurants and the waterfront within easy reach. This is a good middle ground for travelers who want hotel amenities and a larger room but still want to stay outside a casino resort.

8. Beau Rivage: Best Full-Service Resort Experience

The Beau Rivage Biloxi - where to stay in Biloxi

Not every traveler wants an alternative to Biloxi’s casino resorts. If the goal is a large property with restaurants, entertainment, nightlife, a pool, spa and gaming all under one roof, Beau Rivage remains one of the city’s defining resort experiences.

The advantage is convenience. You can return from sightseeing and have dinner, drinks or a show without getting back in the car. Gulf-view rooms also give the property the waterfront setting many visitors picture when planning a Biloxi getaway.

The tradeoff is that a large resort can make it tempting to experience Biloxi mostly from inside the property. If you stay here, carve out time to explore downtown, museums, local restaurants and the waterfront beyond the resort itself.

Where Should First-Time Visitors Stay in Biloxi?

For most first-time visitors interested in sightseeing, I would lean toward downtown Biloxi or the central stretch of Beach Boulevard.

That puts you near many of the places that help explain the city: the Biloxi Lighthouse and Visitors Center, historic downtown, restaurants, museums, the ballpark, the waterfront and several of the city’s major entertainment properties.

Staying downtown also makes it easier to combine attractions rather than treating every stop as a separate drive. You can have breakfast, explore historic streets, take a food tour, visit a museum and go to dinner while spending much more of the day experiencing the city itself.

If beaches and relaxation are the priority instead, move farther west along Beach Boulevard and choose a property such as South Beach where the water becomes the center of the trip.

Where to Stay in Biloxi Without a Casino

Biloxi has far more non-casino lodging than many visitors realize.

For history and character, look first at the Old Spanish House or White House Hotel. For a walkable downtown trip, Hotel Biloxi, 902 Howard Lofts, Water Street Retreat and Hotel Legends all put you close to restaurants and attractions without making gaming the focus of your stay.

If your priority is the beach rather than downtown, South Beach Biloxi gives you a suite-style option directly along the shoreline.

Choosing a non-casino property does not mean avoiding the resorts altogether. You can still visit them for restaurants, concerts, nightlife or gaming while returning at the end of the evening to a smaller property that feels more connected to the surrounding neighborhood.

Biloxi Vacation Rental or Hotel: Which Is Better?

A vacation rental makes the most sense when space, kitchens and neighborhood feel matter more than hotel services. Families, groups and travelers staying several nights may appreciate having separate bedrooms, a living area and a place to prepare breakfast or keep leftovers from local restaurants.

The Old Spanish House is a good example of why a Biloxi vacation rental can become part of the experience rather than simply somewhere to sleep. You are staying in an actual historic landmark while remaining close to downtown.

Hotels make more sense if you value a staffed front desk, housekeeping, pools, restaurants or the ability to arrive without managing the details of a private property. Boutique properties such as White House Hotel and Hotel Biloxi can provide some of that convenience without feeling like a generic chain.

Neither is inherently better. Choose based on how you plan to spend the trip.

Where to Stay for the Biloxi Food Tour

If the Historic Downtown Biloxi Food Tour is part of your itinerary, staying downtown can make the day particularly easy.

The Old Spanish House has the strongest connection because the historic property itself is featured along the tour route. Hotel Biloxi, 902 Howard Lofts, Water Street Retreat and Hotel Legends also place you within the broader downtown area, where you can continue exploring restaurants, historic sites and entertainment before or after the tour.

A food tour also works well near the beginning of a trip. Beyond the tastings, it gives you a better understanding of Biloxi’s neighborhoods, history and restaurant scene, which can help you decide where you want to return for the rest of your stay.

Choosing the Best Place to Stay in Biloxi

The best place to stay in Biloxi depends on the trip you want to have.

Choose the Old Spanish House if history and a distinctive vacation rental appeal to you. Pick White House Hotel for historic boutique character with traditional hotel service. Stay at Hotel Biloxi, 902 Howard Lofts or Water Street Retreat if walking around downtown matters most. Look at South Beach for a beach-centered family trip, Hotel Legends for spacious suites and downtown convenience, or Beau Rivage when you want the full resort experience.

More important than choosing the biggest property or the lowest nightly rate is choosing a location that fits how you actually want to spend your time. Biloxi becomes a much more interesting destination when your hotel or vacation rental makes it easier to experience the food, history, waterfront and neighborhoods outside its front door.
